Uncuffed: Event Recap

Shout out to all the volunteers that made this event possible!
Hey CIT family,
I want to thank everyone who showed up. Fully, bravely, and beautifully.
What an incredible night. God is so good.
We had over 320 people plus a waitlist of 200+ people (yes, really).
It was the biggest Christian singles event we’ve ever seen in NYC, and it happened because the body of Christ came together across churches, ministries, and communities to create something special.
Whether you made a new friend, found a spark, got a great story out of it, or simply took a step of faith by walking into that room, again, thank you. Showing up is no small thing. Showing up intentionally is even bigger. And every act of faith leads to more faith, more wholeness, more growth.
And yes… we’ve already heard a handful of incredible “connection” stories. We know many more will unfold in the coming weeks.
❤️ First, a Word of Encouragement

Whether or not you met “your person” last Friday, we pray you continue to approach dating from a place of:
Wholeness, not desperation.
Grace, not pressure.
Identity rooted in Christ, not in outcomes.
Gentleness and humility, just as Jesus invites us to walk with Him
And remember, like most things in life, dating takes reps, and you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Keep showing up with intentionality, prayerfully, and with hope.

4. Connect with our Talent
Grace and the Color Vault team, y’all crushed it:

Color Vault — absolute angels who blessed the room with beauty and warmth.
They have a worship night early next year — details coming soon.
⚠️ A Word About the Matching Tech (Let’s Talk About It 😂)
Some of you matched! Some of you… did not.
Some of you matched with friends, some with yourselves (we’re sorry 😂).
And yes, we built the matching platform in three weeks. There’s a lot that still needs to be ironed out but, “Baptism by Fire” as they say.
Huge shout-out to The Valance team who volunteered countless hours to make this event possible.
We are already working on:
better load handling
improved matching accuracy
cleaner UI
more robust pairing logic
post-event match follow-ups
and yes… fewer self-matches 🤣
Thank you all for your patience and grace!
P.S. - If you missed the opportunity to exchange contact information, your match page has been updated to allow you to choose which matches you’d like to share with.
You can find this page again through an email from Valence (if you didn’t receive this email, let us know so that we can help you out)!

Thank you for being patient, gracious, and kind.
Thank you for giving God space to move in a city that often pulls us in the opposite direction.
We are praying for you all:
For community.
For healthy pursuit.
For peace over your season of singleness . Not as a problem, but as a purpose.
More events will come.
More opportunities to connect are on the horizon.
With gratitude and in Christ,
Andy and the entire Uncuffed partner team

Faith at Work: John Reinhart on Becoming a Gospel Patron

Last month, Christians in Tech partnered with the National Christian Foundation to promote a special gathering. If you made it, you probably remember a highlight of the night: hearing John Reinhart speak.
John is the founder of Gospel Patrons, a ministry reawakening a biblical vision: throughout Scripture and history, God has used businesspeople to advance His Kingdom. Through his book Gospel Patrons, his teaching, and stories from church history, John reminds us that our work, success, and generosity are not side quests but central to God’s mission in the world.
For many of us working in tech, the questions are real: What’s the meaning of my work? How does my career serve God’s Kingdom? John has wrestled with the same, and his research—from the printing of the first English Bible to modern movements—points to a consistent theme: God works through patrons (entrepreneurs, creatives, builders) who put their influence and resources behind the gospel.
As technology reshapes our era (AI, Web3, etc.), we believe God is calling our community to step up as modern-day Gospel Patrons. Below is a brief Q&A to encourage and equip you. (Responses are shared with John’s exact words.)
Faith + Vocation
You’ve said that throughout Scripture, God uses businesspeople to advance His Kingdom. Why do you think this truth is often overlooked in modern church culture?
We love to celebrate the great preachers and missionaries who God has used in a mighty and visible way, but the truth is none of them were lone rangers. They always have had the support and generous partnership of others. When the apostle Paul describes the church as a body with different members, some members of the body are more visible and public. That’s normal and good, it’s just not the whole story. Business and professional people have a strategic and beautiful part to play as well.
How can Christian professionals in the tech industry live out a Gospel Patron mindset in their daily work?
It really starts with answering the question: Why are you going to work? Who is it for? I am so prone to see myself in the center of my own life and story, but the truth is Jesus is in the center. He’s our why! When we put Jesus in the center of our work, the story we’re a part of gets a whole lot bigger and better. We’re not working to perform for people’s approval. We’re not working to escape into retirement and ease. Our work is an offering to God, an onramp to our purpose, and an opportunity to bless the world.
The Role of Generosity & Partnership
What does Gospel partnership look like today for entrepreneurs, creatives, and tech innovators?
When you excel at your work you’re rewarded in two ways: with more money and more attention. The question is: What will we do with those? Throughout history, successful leaders have joyfully chosen to generously put their earthly rewards into play so that more people can know Jesus. Our true rewards and treasures are waiting for us in heaven anyways. It’s just such a beautiful thing when we can use our influence and affluence to support leaders who are called to proclaim the gospel and introduce people to Jesus.
How can we reframe generosity, not just as financial giving, but as participation in God’s work?
This is the consistent testimony of Scripture and history. We get to be a part of what God is doing in and through the ministries of others through our generosity. We can choose to sow bountifully or sparingly, but why not go after a huge harvest? From God’s perspective, generosity is real partnership. That’s what the New Testament book of Philippians is, Paul’s theological thank you letter for a church’s financial partnership. Jesus says the same thing in Matthew 10:41.
Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
Personal & Inspirational
What inspired you to write Gospel Patrons and how has your understanding of vocation evolved since?
Gospel Patrons was the vision I didn’t have as a young businessman struggling with two major questions. What is the role of business and professional people in God’s kingdom? And, when God blesses you with success and wealth, what’s it for? I knew it had to be about more than an ever-increasingly lifestyle, but I didn’t have vision so God sent me to seminary, to study history, and on a 132-day trip around the world to meet a modern-day Gospel Patron. It’s been life-changing.
Application for the Readers
If you were to speak directly to Christians in the tech industry, what would your one message be?
Jesus is writing a great story and he has a part for you to play in it. If you wait to be generous to God’s kingdom until you ‘make it’, you won’t be ready when the time comes. Give now. Start with what you have, not what you hope to have. Be faithful with little and you’ll be qualified to be faithful with much. Build the muscles today that you’re going to need someday. And build your relationship with Jesus by going deep in his word and getting to know his Spirit in community with other godly people. This is the life that’s truly Life.
Closing Reflection
John’s message is a timely invitation: our code, our craft, our companies can be worship and partnership. As builders, founders, PMs, researchers, and investors, we can put Jesus at the center of our work and direct our influence and affluence toward His mission.
