The Bay Area Didn't Need Another Startup.
It Needed This!

Hey Christians*inTech 👋
We just had our first event outside of NYC.
And San Francisco showed up.
Just a few weeks ago, this wasn't even on the calendar. It started with a simple text. Laura, who's been part of our New York community, reached out:
"Hey, I'm moving to San Francisco. Is there anything happening there?"
Short answer: no. Follow-up question: "Do you want to help start something?"
Three weeks later…
We found ourselves at Salesforce Park, taking over the beer garden with 140+ people (182 registered) gathering as believers, seekers, and friends from across the Bay Area. People came from all over: across SF, different parts of the Bay, even driving in from Santa Rosa just to be in the room.
And the room (well, park) felt special.
What we were actually trying to do
Going into this, we kept asking a simple question: Is there a real need here?
There are already incredible churches, ministries, and communities in San Francisco. We don't need to be everywhere. We don't need to reinvent anything.
But what we do know is this: we're good at creating spaces. Spaces that feel:
✳ Easy to walk into
✳ Safe to be yourself
✳ Natural to invite a friend into
✳ Open to real conversations about faith
Christians*inTech has always been about creating third spaces. Not church, not work. Somewhere in between where your faith doesn't get checked at the door. Because following Jesus isn't just a Sunday thing. It shows up in conversations after work, startup stress, happy hours, friendships, questions, doubts, and everyday life.
Something we kept hearing
Throughout the night, people kept asking: "Wait… what organization is this?" "Who's hosting this?"
And the answer was pretty simple:
"We're just Christians."
Christians showing up to meet other Christians. And creating space for people who are curious, exploring, or just looking for something real. There's something powerful about that. Especially in a place like San Francisco.
Why this matters
Let's be honest. Walking into a church on a Sunday can feel like a big step for a lot of people. But showing up to a gathering in a park with good people, good conversations, and a relaxed vibe? That's a much easier "yes."
And sometimes, that's where it starts. Not as the destination. The on-ramp.
We're not gatekeepers. We're connectors.
Shoutout to Faith & Work Movement
We were especially grateful to partner with Faith & Work Movement for this event. They're doing incredible work helping Christians form and grow workplace communities inside major companies, from Amazon to Google and beyond.
If you've ever thought:
✳ "I wish there was a Bible study at my company"
✳ "Are there other Christians at my workplace?"
✳ "Could I start something?"
They're the people to talk to. Seriously, reach out to them. They'll support you with structure, resources, and prayer.
What's next for San Francisco
This was just the beginning. We're excited to officially welcome Laura as our first SF lead, helping build and shape what this community looks like in the Bay.
And we're still listening. We want to understand:

There was a moment during the event where I was looking around at Salesforce Park, seeing groups of people talking, laughing, praying, reconnecting… And just thinking: God is doing something here.
